However, it is not necessarily the case for ground states and low-energy excited states of local Hamiltonians, things we care about most in condensed matter physics. These states have particularly low entanglement entropy, ideal for a tensor network representation. I will give an informal talk on recent progress on 2D isometric tensor networks, in particular, an efficient algorithm for finding ground states and simulating the low-energy dynamics of correlated electrons.
